I don’t particularly care to rehash all of the garbage he spewed on Twitter yesterday, but I wanted to briefly showcase some of the most disturbing messages that Tumblr politics tag editor Alexander Ryking posted on a public forum last night. I just have one question: is this mature, professional behavior? Is this the type of person you want curating your tag content, Tumblr? Reblog if your answer is a resounding NO.
In order, here’s just what we’ve got in the screencap—he says similar things on his personal Tumblr all the time, but I thought it was important to point out that his troubled behavior is now spilling over to other media:
calling women morons, feminazis and cunts
equating the denial of “misandry” (a concept that is overwhelmingly rejected by everyone who understands gender politics) to denying scientific consensus
stating that women who dislike him must have “daddy issues”
again with the “daddy issues” thing, which IMO is the most grossly sexist part of this entire tirade
equating women to dogs
telling feminists to go die
This isn’t about removing him from the position of editor because of political disagreements; after all, Ryking isn’t a conservative! This is about baseless personal attacks against women specifically (although non-women who disagree with him about “feminazis” have incurred his wrath as well) and for no reason other than they identify as feminists. I cannot stress enough that these attacks take place in an internet culture where being an outspoken, visible woman online will routinely earn you death threats, sexual harassment, and acts of intimidation. Here we have someone completely oblivious to the way his words contribute to that atmosphere, and yet we’re supposed to trust him to edit the official politics tag? How can we believe that this man’s raging misogyny doesn’t spill over into that? It’s absolutely unacceptable.

I’ve always had him written off since he thought an appropriate argument was to tell my wife to kill herself. -Joe

Just had to reblog it.

Although it seems as if I haven’t been drawing (or posting anything on DA, for the matter), I’ve been making a couple pictures in my spare time.
Here’s one of them: a commission for a friend. He wanted myself and himself drawn in the Earthbound/Mother 2 style. I do hope he likes it. ;v;

I just happened to want to re-do a portrait that I made earlier. Heeeeeeey, remember this? -> http://ninjacatmuffin.tumblr.com/post/11449071188/i-gave-up-on-that-maya-picture-so-have-one-of-jun . Well, you probably shouldn’t since it’s so old, but if you do…this is it, again. I decided to touch up the features (to match my mental image more. Hey, is it so wrong to have mental images of what you think video game character look like IRL??)
Anyway, have some more speed-painting practice. The hair tufts below the ear upset me, but otherwise I like how this turned out.

Best sonic thing I’ve seen in a long time.

I happen to be a sucker for seeing people’s progression as they finish up a picture, so here’s mine.
Top: Sketch
Middle: Lineart (not fully cleaned up)
Bottom: Colored version

I can’t post this on DA until the recipient has already seen it IRL, so I’ll just post it here for now.
I realize that there are many mistakes in here, but it came out OK in the end

Pricelists Industry vs Fandom.
Finally made.
If anyone would care to donate a coloured comic page for the comic industry standard list I’m willing to accept one and will give credit c8 I would’ve made one if I had an example but I don’t -A-
But yes that’s off my chest.
Of course this is based off my own browsing over price lists and how I work unfortunately my commissioner homie went idle so I can’t confirm the most vs the least one can spend.
I’ve only found one artist thus far that charges nearly as close to industry standard. Even then it’s under the standard. As far a I’m concerned anyone under the standard shouldn’t have complaints about expensive art. Fandom average is hardly one you can live by.
Would you like to get paid $30 for 3-7 days worth of work?

Yeah hey, everyone look at this. This is what EVERY artist should be able to charge, even if just the lower rungs.

Gosh

ahahah ok, this actually made me remember one moment that happened on a local Con this summer, we were doing commissions there, and we were drawing A5 format chibies for 5LT(2$) they were lined, colored and looking all nice and this girl comes to us asking about prices and we tell her that chibi drawing is 2$ and she said: wow that`s too expensive and walked away.
ahahahah if only she saw this post :”D

mandatory reblog

sad but true
it’s hard to price things because people complain saying “that’s too expensive for a picture” and I just wanna simultaneously facepalm, headesk and tableflip everything and then ollie into the sun
Not everyone can afford the true price of art and I love when people commission me for what I set as my prices but it still sucks when I need to undersell myself to get any business

its cool because it costs thousands of dollars to commission a few minutes or so of music.
and people are like “fifty dollars for 1-5 minutes that is highway robbery. you should be ashamed of yourself.”
Ok sure guy.
